Adam,

Good to hear from you, Merry Christmas!!  Not many Hems's out hear in the west, there are quite a few back in New York where I grew up and went to school.  I will give you a little background on the Hems's from NY and there may be a connection because my dad's father came from Leeds and my Irish mother, Anna Marie Egan, here parents came from County Cork in Ireland and imigrated to NY in the late 1800's.

Message for Stephen Hems in Canada. You visited us in Coventry several years ago when you flew to Birmingham and we later lost touch. Here we are again and I am trying to trace any information about my Grandparents namely Charles Hems but do not know christian name of my Grandmother. You may have this information or any other clues about their whereabouts or relatives from your Father. What were the names of your Father's brothers? Hope to hear from you Stephen.

Hi there to you all and greeting from Anglesey in North Wales.... I have signed this guestbook before but take pleasure in doing so again. My grand father Howard was the youngest son of Alfred and Sarah (nee Jordan). They had a large family and lived in Handsworth which is now part of Birmingham. I have been informed by my Uncle David(middle name Frank) that my ggf Alfred also came from a large family. David and his family live in Australia. I found your site via friends re-united,good to see life has been good to you and your family. I have two girls myself aged 6 & 9,people have asked me as I'm sure they've asked you "wouldn't you like a son" to which I reply never. They are my little angels and wouldn't change that for the world. I've been happily married to Lisa for 14 years and have moved from Kingsclere to Fulham and then to Shefford (a small town in Herts not far from Bedford)and am currently an area sales manager for a specialist lighting company. It only seems like yesterday we were making crop circles with the cattle feeder in the field across from your old home. Are you in touch with any other people from those fun school days? Keep well and may you continue to tick things off your wish list.

Just arrived at this excellent site. Obviously led here by a Google search for Hemses! Our 'Hems'history knowledge is very limited indeed and I would like to know more. My father - William John Leslie Hems was born in 1901 (into a family which finally grew to 13) in Kingswinford in the West Midlands of the UK. There is a reference on the internet to his grandfather (I think) who was the publican of The Little Pig. My father was a crystal glasscutter (alongside several brothers) and so was his father. One of my father's brothers -Reg - became a tree surgeon in the West Country and he claimed that the Hems family had been traced back to a stonemason who moved to the UK in the 18th century!

You have a very good photo album website with lots of pictures. My favorite pictures are the ones that were taken on the playgrounds, especially the two April 11, 2003 pictures of Chris showing his agility by climbing up the fireman's pole at the park in Stafford, Texas. Your kids Jasmine and Daisy have shown their athletic abilities on the playgrounds, such as swinging on the monkey bars and going down the slides. Can they climb up (and slide down) the poles? Please continue to add more photos (and perhaps some videos) to your website, especially of the kids playing at the playgrounds. Thank you very much, and keep up the good work!
